What is Fit for Work Assessment?
A Fit for Work Assessment evaluates an employee’s physical and mental capacity to perform their job without risk to themselves or others often against a formal medical standard or guidance. In most cases this is the ‘DVLA Group 2’ driver standard.
This is a crucial step for roles which involve driving and need a higher standard of fitness e.g. plant operators, forklift truck drivers, excavators, digger drivers, dumper trucks, telehandlers, rollers, loaders and MEWPs (mobile elevated work platforms) e.g. cherry pickers, scissor lifts and boom lifts.
The assessment typically involves a combination of tests, which may include:
- Height and weight measurement
